Leadership Tips

Leadership Tip

Creative worship services are a wonderful way to capture the attention of teenagers and help them focus their minds on God and what He might be saying to them. Even if it is quite different from the typical Sunday morning worship service at your church, plan to include a wide variety of music and other elements that will connect with your Acteens. You might include a different prayer experience where the girls pray in small groups or keep their eyes open while praying to consider with a fresh perspective all that God has given to them. Read Scripture from a contemporary version of the Bible or include a skit or interpretative movement for additional creativity.

Leadership Tip

Acteens look up to their leaders as examples and mentors. Plan to fulfill your role as a mentor this year with each of your Acteens. Don’t forget the suggestions included at the conclusion of each session under Take Out and Till Next Time. These ideas will help you maintain a strong contact throughout each week with your Acteens. This mid-week contact will give you the opportunity to encourage your girls in their spiritual walks and challenge them to a deeper relationship with Christ.

Leadership Tip

After the Bible study preparation you do as a leader each week, don’t forget to pull nuggets of what you’re learning into your sessions with the Acteens. See the Take 5 section included in the teaching plans for each week for suggestions of important truths you can share with your girls from your preparation time. Teenage girls have the ability to think much more deeply than we often imagine, especially high school girls. So, don’t be afraid to bring up important concepts and ideas with your group. You might be surprised at how they will want to discuss and interact with the deeper knowledge you are sharing with them.
